InfluenceAsia prepared the 2024 ranking through an independent editorial research process focused on individual sustainability influence. The process began with a broad longlist of leaders active across renewable energy, batteries, electric mobility, climate diplomacy, sustainable finance, biodiversity, climate justice, green buildings, carbon markets, circular economy, sustainable food, environmental data, supply chains, and social enterprise.
Each candidate was screened for active 2024 relevance. InfluenceAsia required evidence of substantive leadership responsibility, visible field contribution, practical deployment, policy influence, institutional role, public credibility, or community impact during the edition year. The ranking excluded leaders whose sustainability identity was primarily symbolic, promotional, or unrelated to measurable action.
Qualified candidates were evaluated across seven weighted dimensions: systems impact, deployment and execution, climate and environmental relevance, Asia-specific consequence, credibility and governance, inclusion and just transition, and narrative and field-building influence. Final ranking positions were determined through editorial synthesis. Large-scale clean-technology deployment carried significant weight, but it did not automatically outrank climate justice, nature protection, finance, or governance where those contributions were strategically important.
